Pat LePoidevin – RESCHEDULED TO MAY 2

Pat LePoidevin was a delightful addition to the in-the-dead-of-winter festival this January.  Apart from a huge voice and beautiful songs, Pat gets sounds out of a ukulele I did not know were possible.

Possibly the most powerful male singer-songwriter signed up to Searchlight this year. This guy has LUNGS. And LYRICS. For fans of Dan Mangan, Patrick Watson, and Bon Iver.
– Grant Lawrence, CBC Music

Join us for Pat LePoidevin Saturday, March 28 @  8 pm
Rescheduled to May 2

$15 suggested donation (all $$ to the artists, as usual)

Alana Yorke – POSTPONED

Winter – you win (for now).  Our street is really not safe for a bunch of cars and people to park and walk, especially with more ‘stuff’ happening today.  We WILL bring Alana Yorke back because she is AMAZING.  New date: TBD

One of our In-the-dead-of-winter-music-festival favorites, Alana Yorke will serve up some comfort-food-like music for you on Saturday, February 28 @  8 pm.

With dream-like vocals and a minimalist piano style, Alana Yorke combines irresistible hooks and captivating rhythmic patterns to draw listeners into her hypnotic and beautiful world.  Raised on mid-80’s synth-pop (Kate Bush, Gowan, Enya), Yorke’s debut album, Dream Magic, was mixed in Montreal with Arcade Fire’s engineer Mark Lawson and was released January 20, 2015.  Armed with a strong musical vision and unafraid of bold sonic choices, Yorke steers her music deftly between sparkly synth-pop, grand cinematic gestures, and stripped-down intimacy on this much-anticipated release.

ENNIS – February 8 – Postponed to a later date due to winter weather

We are thick into it now – the new year – which brings with it resolutions and renewed commitments.  Once in a while, the soul needs the comfort of a little music.  And we have just the thing on Sunday, February 8ENNIS offers a live performance that it powerful, compelling and fresh – just like the wind and waves that wash over their home shores of Newfoundland.

After releasing 6 CDs as The Ennis Sisters (earning a JUNO and multiple ECMAs along the way), ENNIS (sisters Maureen and Karen Ennis together with Mark Murphy) released “Lessons Learned” in 2011, winning the 2011 ECMA for Roots Traditional Recording of the Year.  In July of 2012, they released “The Fortunate Ones”, which includes original songs plus songs by Ron Hynes, Bob Dylan and a rousing pub song Ladies Lounge (co-written by Russell Crowe and Alan Doyle).   Without a doubt, ENNIS has established itself as a world class act.

“Their performance of the song I Will Sing You Home was the most magical, real, human experience that I have even seen at a live music event.  The energy of the crowd shifted to a palpable, emotional energy.  It was profound.” (Liz Scott, Irish Mountain Music)

These girls are also HILARIOUS!  So if a laugh is what you are looking for, you shan’t be disappointed.                                                                                             http://www.ennismusic.com/                                                                  https://www.facebook.com/Ennismusic1

We are hoping to start the show a tad earlier than usual – at 7:30 pm, given that it is a ‘school night’.  We will collect the $20 cover just before the break – 100 % goes to the artists, as usual.  Non-alcoholic beverages will be offered.  You are invited to take along any wine/beer/etc. that you wish to enjoy.  There will be a selection of munchies at the break.  Contributions to the munchies table will be shared happily although not required.

RSVP* to mleblanc.patchwork@gmail.com or 902 434-8355.  It helps us plan (for chairs, brownies, etc).  And please tell all your music-loving friends about Patchwork and bring them with you to a show.

Best,                                                                                                                                             Monique & George                                                                                                                   Patchwork House Concerts                                                                                                                30 First Ave., Bedford

Keith Mullins & Silvio Pupo – Jan 17, 2015

If you would like to forget it’s winter for a bit, join us in the cosy atmosphere of our living room on SATURDAY, JANUARY 17 for an evening of music infused with Cape Breton roots, West African drumming, Cuban sounds, jazz…..it won’t be cold in here I assure you!

Keith Mullins brings a broad range of talents to every project.  He moves effortlessly from guitar to drums, from folk to Cuban music to jazz, from the stage to the classroom, from creation to performance to production, from the road to the farm….remaining focused and enthusiastic all the while.  Keith was part of the Basinview Rocks project which raised money for the school’s playground.  His newest release, Island Sol, is a documentary/album collaboration between Keith and some stellar Cuban musicians recorded at the famous Egrem Studios in Havana, Cuba. Island Sol made the Coast’s Top 20 Albums of 2014.
