Kristen Martell – April 13

To tide us over between Juno week and the ECMAs, we welcome bilingual folk/pop artist Kristen Martell on April 13.  Tickets are $20 and available here.

Reminiscent of Sarah McLachlan with hints of Jewel, her earthy introspective songs have the warmth of a golden sunset.  Gentle arrangements, haunting harmonies and insightful messages make her the perfect soundtrack to ease your melancholy. Take a listen to a couple of beautiful tracks:
Photograph of Secrets
Quiet Hearts

With multiple East Coast Music Association and Music Nova Scotia award nominations since her return to music in 2020, Kristen is making a name for herself in the East Coast music scene and beyond.  Her latest album ‘Every Season’ (Sept 30, 2022) is her most confident, self-assured and emotionally compelling work to date. It was nominated for the 2023 ECMA ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Folk Recording of the Year’.  It also ranked #6 on the Earshot National Folk/Roots/Blues radio charts in early 2023 and was named one of Great Dark Wonder’s best albums of 2022.   Kristen is currently working on a Francophone project to honour her Acadian heritage.  Her first Francophone single Parmi nos fantômes was just released.  Listen here

Kristen’s performance is an intimate and heartfelt experience that revolves around her captivating vocals and thoughtful lyrics accompanied by the warm sounds of her classical guitar and keys. Regardless of language, Kristen’s music creates a warm and inviting atmosphere where audience members feel moved.

Kristen Martell – April 13 – tickets

Tickets are also available now for the remaining 2 shows in our spring line-up.  Why not pick up those as well (gifts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day?????).

Daniel James McFadyen and (2024 Juno nominee) Steph LaRochelle – May 11 – tickets
Folk/Indie artist Daniel James McFadyen was born in Ontario but now calls NS home.  His storytelling and interactive shows have sold out venues across Canada.  His debut album, released in 2021, earned him several ECMA nominations including Folk Recording of the Year, Rising Star of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.  Steph LaRochelle’s debut EP Wildflower has been nominated for a 2024 Juno and displays her breathtaking vocals and heart-warming guitar playing.

Lynne Hanson – June 2 (matinee) – tickets
Too tough for folk and too blues-influenced for country, Lynne’s style of porch music (where a sunshine laced, blue-sky ballad can flip to a full on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next) has garnered her the nickname “Canada’s Own Queen of Americana”.  A two-time Canadian Folk Music Award Winner, Lynne releases her 10th album in May.

So gather some friends – grab your tickets – and head on over – easy as that!  For each show, the artist(s) take 100% of ticket sales.  We provide a stage, an audience and offer snacks to guests. All shows are BYOB.  Bringing music-loving-friends is strongly encouraged.  See you soon 🙂
