JOYFUL….PLAY……these are the names of Coco Love Alcorn’s previous and brand new cd, the latter inspired by her new bundle of joy, Ellie.
After Ellie was born in September of 2010, Coco knew she’d need to take a break from touring but didn’t want to feel disconnected from her music. So she set about writing and recording a new album at home. During the very special time of bonding with her new baby, Coco spent whatever time she could in her music room, often with Ellie on her lap. Being released this month, PLAY (described as a hop, skip and a jump through her favourite musical genres) is almost entirely performed, recorded and produced by Coco. The few exceptions included Ian Sherwood playing some beautiful tenor sax and her father John Alcorn stepping in with some valuable producer advice in the final stages.
As part of her Canadian cd release tour, Coco will be back in our living room on Friday, March 25 for her third show at Patchwork. For those who have seen Coco perform live already, that is enough information; for those who haven’t, well….the words play and joyful pretty much sum it up.
