The LYNNeS – Mother’s Day Matinee Show (May 13)

Beautiful harmonies…….

The LYNNeS are Juno award winning songwriter Lynn Miles and award-winning songwriter Lynne Hanson.  These two Canadian heartbreak poets are not new to working together, having toured and written songs off and on over the past 10 years, and with Miles having produced two of Hanson’s albums (River of Sand, 2014 and 7 Deadly Spins, 2015).   Both LYNNeS are multi-instrumentalists (piano, acoustic, electric guitar, mandolin), and fuse tight vocal harmonies with hauntingly gritty lyrics.  They recently released their debut album Heartbreak Song for the Radio.

I took your words
Stumbled strummed and hummed along
Hammered till they spelled out
The world’s saddest broken hearted song

– Heartbreak Song For The Radio – The LYNNeS

The duo adopted an old school approach to recording their album, choosing to record to tape and recording all the bed tracks and many of the vocal and acoustic guitar parts live off the floor.  Each song on the album is a co-write, producing a truly collaborative effort, drawing on the strengths of two Lynn(e), to create a sum greater than two individual parts.

I’m tired of falling for cowboys in the dark
I’m tired of giving away my heart
Of walking a line that’s always shifting
Being the hero and doing all the heavy lifting

– Heavy Lifting – The LYNNeS

“[the album] has the kind of spacious, rolling thunder restlessness Bob Dylan attained with Daniel Lanois all those years ago. It’s that good.”  5 stars – Jeff Monk | Winnipeg Free Press

“Individually, both Lynnes are formidable forces in contemporary country, together they just might be unstoppable.” – Mike Davies | folking.com (UK)

Erin Costelo – TWO shows – Carole King’s Tapestry and other songs

Well this is a testament to the talents of our next performer.  Erin Costelo is, without a doubt, one of the gems of the Halifax music scene and she will perform Carole King’s Tapestry and other songs (twice) at Patchwork on Saturday, February 3 and again on Sunday, February 4.  Initially the plan was to have one show but the response has been, frankly, overwhelming.  BOTH SHOWS ARE NOW TOTALLY BOOKED.

Producer, songwriter, arranger – with a voice like no other, Erin Costelo will bring to life songs from one of her heroes plus songs from her own catalogue, including (hopefully) a few from her current project (which you can read about on her website): http://erincostelo.ca

Saturday, February 3 @ 8 pm.  Doors 7:30 pm.  $30 per person.

Sunday, February 4 @ 2 pm.  Doors 1:30 pm.  $30 per person.

As is the case with every show at Patchwork, all funds collected go directly to the artist.  You many wish to bring a little extra $$ for a cd or other merchandise.  Events are BYOB.  Non-Alcoholic beverages and snacks will be offered.  Shareable snacks are welcome but not required.

RSVP to mleblanc.patchwork@gmail.com with preferred date and number of attendees.  Our Saturday show is close to full.

Best,

Christine Campbell & Blake Johnston – January 13

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone found a little peace and joy and rest over the Christmas holiday season.

We at Patchwork House Concerts are gearing up for another year of great music and we start with someone whose music and energy will totally warm up the house.  Christine Campbell is a power house on any stage and we are delighted to have her back for a third time, and her second appearance with Blake Johnston.

Christine released her new solo album Roller Coaster in March of last year.  It is a stellar album that demonstrates her diverse musical influences – from 70s rock to roots and blues.  From classical piano to impressive guitar solos to full band rock and roll shows, Christine appeals to a wide audience. Check out her website for a few sneak peak videos: https://www.christinecampbellmusic.com/music

Christine will perform songs from Roller Coaster as well as a few older tracks and likely a couple of bonus covers of rock classics.

Saturday, January 13 @ 8 pm.  Doors 7:30 pm.  $20 per person.

Note: As is the case with every show at Patchwork, all funds collected go directly to the artists.  You many want to bring a little extra for a copy of a cd or other merchandise.  Events are BYOB.  Non-Alcoholic beverages and snacks will be offered.  Shareable snacks are welcome but not required.
