Jeffery Straker – September 16

“This great work isn’t just for fans of singer/songwriters in a ’70s vein, it belongs on the shelf beside the finer recordings of Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, Elton John” (Album: Dirt Road Confessional)
– Mark Rheaume – CBC Radio (April, 2017)

Jeffery Straker is a Patchwork favourite and someone Nova Scotians need to hear.  Singer-songwriter-pianist-balladeer, he has been compared to a young Billy Joel or Elton John with shades of Rufus Wainwright thrown in.  A most entertaining live performer, he will be at Patchwork promoting his latest release “Dirt Road Confessional” produced (in part) by Daniel Ledwell and with a couple of songs co-written by Royal Wood.

Originally from small town Saskatchewan, the classically trained pianist was raised by a church organist mother and an auctioneer father.  In 2014, he was thrown into the Latin America spotlight when he won the prestigious Vina del Mar (Chile) song competition representing Canada in front of a festival crowd of 20,000 and a TV audience of 100 million viewers.

See him live at Patchwork Saturday, September 16 @ 8 pm.  Doors 7:30 pm.  $20 per person (all funds to the artist).  BYOB.  Snacks offered.
