Patchwork Threads

Though not related, both Norma and Jason hail from Cape Breton and both have played Patchwork before.  As exciting as that is, get this: they each have a new cd!

Norma released her 3^rd cd ‘Morning You Wake’ in June of this year and it has picked up 3 Music NS Awards nominations including Folk Recording of the Year and Female Artist Recording of the Year (whoop whoop).

Her big vocals, heartfelt delivery and sharp wit are hallmarks of her live performances.  http://normamacdonald.com

Jason has just released his 3^rd recording ‘On the Way’ – too late for 2011 NS Music Week but based on his earlier work, we expect to see him on the list for 2012.

It’s time to bring up the chairs from the basement, dust off the email list and figure out what to do with the new, rather large coffee table….After 2 months of summer festivals Patchwork is ready to welcome music lovers back into the living room.  Our first show is coming right up – September 10 with the multi-talented Ian Sherwood.  More details soon but plan to join us!

With summer fast approaching (at least that’s what the calendar is telling me) we are soon going to take a wee break from hosting shows but not before we put the icing on the cake that has been a phenomenal run of shows these past few months.

We are so very pleased to welcome Andrea Ramolo to the living room as she passes through NS on her Canadian tour promoting her second cd, The Shadow and the Cracks.  Described as an ‘antidote to too much Joni Mitchell, a tougher Dolly Parton and a sexier Janis Joplin’,  Andrea has a sound that is all her own, a sound that earned her the 2009 Toronto Exclusive Magazine awards for Best Female Folk Artist, Best Folk Album and Best Blues Song.  Check out her website.

Patchwork House Concerts

For a final reminder about Patchwork’s next show with Steve Poltz this coming weekend, I thought I’d try to compose an entire post using only Seuss-isms and Poltz-isms.  Here goes:
